I just got home from Amelia Island. My birthday trip was a huge success and I have to report that the island has a ton to offer artists. Historical downtown shops and restaurants are abundant and so are the smiles. Everyone here is kind and welcoming, and there is plenty of beauty to look at!
I try to getaway on long weekends quite often. It's something I actually NEED as an artist. I love meeting new people and discover new places to grab a fruity drink before I shoot the sunset. That's where I always have my best moments, at the water's edge with my camera. Believe it or not, I go on these sacred adventures alone. It's become a ritualistic way to center myself and think about my goals and even plan some pieces to work on back in reality.
Don't sleep thru the best part of the day, wakeup for the sunrise. Celebrate every sunset and get out in nature. Your soul will thank you for it, and your art will be energized by your adventure. Drive fast, listen to your favorite music, roll the windows down and checkout the local coffee shop and galleries.
